About Promise Ngwenya
Promise L. Ngwenya is a 19-year-old published author from Tafelkop, Majakaneng, in the North West Province of South Africa. She published her first book, The Math of Love, in 2024 at the age of 18. Drawing inspiration from her high school drama experiences, she crafted a heartfelt story that marked the beginning of her writing journey.
From a young age, Promise developed a deep passion for reading and writing. As an introvert, she often found comfort in books, which transported her to different worlds and inspired her imagination. As a result, she began creating stories that reflect real-life experiences, family relationships, and the challenges people face in society. Furthermore, she writes in Sepedi, allowing her to connect with local readers, while translations into English help her reach a wider audience.
In addition, Promise continues to develop her skills as a storyteller and drama writer. Her work focuses on meaningful themes that encourage readers to reflect on their own lives and relationships.
Currently, she is writing Mom’s Secret Is Revealed, a moving story about a young girl whose mother keeps her hidden from the world. However, when her mother becomes seriously ill and eventually passes away, the girl must face life on her own. Consequently, she embarks on a journey to uncover the truth about her past and discover why her mother kept such a life-changing secret.
Moreover, Promise’s writing explores real family struggles, hidden truths, and the emotional impact of long-buried secrets. Through her stories, she highlights the importance of courage, self-discovery, and resilience. Ultimately, her books show what can happen when the truth finally comes to light.
